Mother Nature is Medicine

Mother Nature is Medicine
MOTHER NATURE IS MEDICINE. The Creator has given us everything that we need. It is all here on this Earth and in the Universe. It can be found in the Earth, in the Sky, in the Waters, in the Air. Often times, we, as humans, tend to view nature as something that is "apart" from ourselves. We talk of spending time "in nature." We, in a sense, distance ourselves. In reality, we ARE "a - part" as well. The Great Spirit put us here and blessed us and our ancestors with this beautiful earth. Embracing the Creator and the natural blessings is food & nourishment for the body, mind, and soul. Nature is medicine. ~Peace and Blessings~

Feeling Beautiful Clay Mask - Avocado and Oatmeal

So far, I am finding the Freeman Feeling Beautiful masks to be very cleansing and purifying. Over the years, my skin has improved considerably, before I used these masks, but the mask did not cause any break-outs or dryness, which I was very pleased with. The Avocado and Oatmeal mask package says it "purges pores" and I feel my skin felt rather clean afterwards. The mask is a minty green color, very thick, with a slaty smooth clay texture. This mask goes a long way and one package can be used twice.
Whenever I do masks, I always use it on my neck, not just my face. And whenever I put anything on my face, I always smooth the product with an upward motion.

In the little green jar lies vaseline, very moisturizing for my lips. When my face is all stiff with a mask on, I hate to have dry lips, so I rub on vaseline or Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula stick.

Fajita Chicken Vegetable wrap

Since I started college (this year), I have not been able to cook as I normally like to. Now that I am home for the holidays, I can take over the kitchen! Campus food isn't always the best, so I am glad I can finally make something the way I want and like it to be, including wraps.

Plain white medium-size tortilla
'Baby Greens Salad' (baby leaf spinach, lettuce, shredded carrots)
Romaine lettuce
Sliced green pepper and sliced onion
Tyson Grilled and Ready fully cooked Fajita Chicken Breast Strips
The Spice Depot salad seasoning

Heat cooked chicken with green pepper and onion in skillet.
Once heated and a little browned, place in a separate bowl.
In the same skillet, heat the tortilla on both sides, browning it.
Take tortilla out of skillet and spread a little bit of ranch on the tortilla, then add the green lettuce, chicken with green peppers and onion, sliced tomato, and sprinkle seasoning on top. Fold and enjoy.

It's Christmas It's Christmas

I made almost the WHOLE Christmas meal by myself! Everything except for two things. Helpful hint: start making some of the dishes the day before, the ones that do not need to be made fresh. This saves a lot of time, trust me.

Stuffing (Turkey and Cornbread stuffing with Jimmy Dean Hot Sausage, chopped green peppers and chopped onion, chopped green apple)

Cook the sausage with the green pepper, onion, and apple
 Turkey with gravy
Kale (cooked in fresh water with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, sprinkle of salt, 1 tablespoon of sugar) We usually have collard greens, but decided to go with something else equally delicious.
Homemade Potato salad
Ham (I know, pork - just for the holiday. Check my blog post about my no pork for 30 days
Nancy's Petite Quiche swiss and bacon (I know! :)
Green bean casserole
Sweet potato soufflé
Devilled egg
Cranberry sauce
Homemade macaroni and cheese

Store-bought quiche for hors d'oeuvre

Frozen Chocolate Pretzel treats for Christmas

Pretzel Rod sticks
Toll House Nestle Dark Chocolate chips/morsels (or whichever you prefer)
Toll House Nestle Peanut Butter and Milk Chocolate chips/morsels
Smucker's Magic Shell Chocolate Fudge
Smucker's Magic Shell Cupcake (it looks white with colored sprinkles in it)

Place the pretzels rods on parchment paper in a rectangle-sized bowl that will fit the pretzels in nicely so they lay flat. Drizzle lots of both the Magic Shells onto the pretzels. Then drop as many chocolate and peanut butter chips as you want. If you want, you can add different sprinkles or drizzle caramel on top.
Place the bowl with the treats in the freezer for about ten minutes. It will not take long for the Magic Shell to harden. A nice combination of salty and sweet. Enjoy!

Afterwards, you can store the pretzel treats in a Ziploc bag or container in the freezer.

Cheese ball Roll-Ups for Christmas

For an appetizer/ hors d'œuvre, or a snack, these roll-ups are delicious with a lot of flavor. You can dip it in salsa as well. Chill and serve! I made one cheese ball and cut it in half and used half for the roll-ups.
Recipe for the cheese ball:

1 bar of Cream Cheese
Chopped Green Onion
Chopped Green Pepper
Crushed Pineapple
Crushed Pecans
One teaspoon of Seasoning Salt (I didn't have seasoning salt this time so I used Soul Seasoning)

Make sure the cream cheese is soft before adding everything together, that way it will be easier to mix. And drain all of the liquid from the pineapple can before mixing. Mix it all together, roll the ball in extra crushed pecans and let it chill, then serve!

Click on this link to see what the cheese ball looks like and typical Thanksgiving food my family makes!

I made the roll-ups for a Christmas hors d'œuvre this year, using the other half for a cheese ball with crackers.

Take a plain tortilla, or any flavor tortilla that you prefer and any size you prefer. I used a plain white medium-sized tortilla and spread the cheese ball mixture on top. Be sure to spread the mixture all over to the edge of the tortilla because you will be using the whole tortilla.

Begin slicing your tortilla into 1-inch strips. Then roll each strip, plain side on the outside of course :)

So easy and simple and quite delicious. Serve cold and store in the refrigerator afterwards.
To save time and tummy space :)  make the appetizer/ hors d'œuvre for Christmas Eve. After our Christmas breakfast, we were too full for appetizers and waited till the main Christmas meal to eat again.
